Another Drug Related Death?
Not from overdose, but from improper sale and distribution, and the issues that result when dealing in such contraband.
Doesn't have to be this way. Pot should be legalized and sold through proper channels. It's all about harm reduction. Why are we at war with a plant that, by it's own devices, harms no one? Obama, are you listening?
Enjoy.

DANVILLE, Calif. -- olice arrested a 15-year-old boy in Oakland early Friday morning in connection with the fatal shooting of Danville resident Rylan Fuchs on Tuesday night, the local police chief announced at a news conference. Fuchs, who would have graduated from San Ramon Valley High School in June, was shot once in the neck on the front porch of his family's home in the 1000 block of El Captain Drive at about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. The 17-year-old student died at John Muir Medical Center early Wednesday morning, Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said. |

Torture Enthusiasts Sweating
Let's get the facts on who did what before we decide who will be held accountable. This isn't the first time that a country has been held accountable for war crimes. There are precedents and I suggest we use them.

Part of my concern relates to his statements at the hearing with regard to torture and what his intentions are toward our intelligence personnel who were operating in good faith based on their understanding of what the law was.

Shave Your Cat, Make A Sweater: Sustainable Clothing Gone Too Far? (VIDEO)
If you've got time to watch a video on shaving your cat to make a sweater, you have no frickin' excuse not to participate in my latest poll offering.
I've got a new poll over at my website. The first one I did on Why God Abandoned Sarah Palin was extremely well received. I hope you enjoy this little trip back down memory lane as well....

Audience Atomization Overcome: Why the Net Erodes the Authority of the Press
Boy, that's a whole lotta graph and copy to explain that we are being fed a line of bullshit from people who are in the same TAX BRACKET as Bernie Madoff.
The blogosphere has been more accurate and representative of American viewpoints since about start of the Iraq war.

Maybe, Going Forward, We Should Just Let Bernie Madoff Off?
We don't need the kind of people in our government who would approve, coverup or use torture. I have no problem with prosecuting ANYONE associated with the torture of toddler's testicles.

Arianna Hosts The Rachel Maddow Show with Guests Bill Maher, Lawrence O'Donnell, Nate Silver, Cory Booker and Google's Eric Schmidt
God knows I love Arianna and am a huge fan of HuffPo, but I find it a little difficult to listen to her for a long time because of her accent. I know it is not something I should say here, but I want to be as honest.
Funny thing, I don't think it would be a problem if I was on a date with her. Then I would probably find it exotic and desirable. As a HUGE fan and unrepentant libertine I find her viewpoint both refreshing and necessary. I just wonder if, as a practical matter of mass communication, she is the voice we need to promoting?

Stolen Election from Alaska?
The numbers in Alaska add up, at a minimum, to machine error. A full investigation should be launched. This is a Diebold state. They have already proven that they can't be trusted. Again, at a very minimum, even without the obvious voice of fraud screaming in the background, a major investigation is warranted. The hardware and software provided (in haste) by Diebold is garbage.

Minnesota Senate Race: Typo Fix Gives Franken 100 More Votes
I'm hopeful that Mr. Franken will end up victorious in this race. I enjoy his frank, yet humorous take on world events, and appreciate the many trips he has taken to support our troops on behalf of the USO. His Republican opponent appears to be a cookie-cutter example of the type of politician we seriously need to purge. Best wishes to the great folks up north in Minnesota, who along with my clear thinking friends and family in Iowa, helped make election night 2008 a wonderful evening.

What Would You Do - What Should You Do?
By now, most of the world is probably aware of the death of James Kim, who died of exposure in an heroic attempt to save his family. What's even more tragic is that it looks like if he'd stayed put he would have been fine. On the other extreme we have DeWitt Finley, who died in a similar circumstance:
-------
Back in 1995 a salesman named DeWitt Finley was trapped on that same road. He got his truck into a drift and realized he wasn't going to get it out. Finley, a healthy man of 56, probably could have walked out pretty easily.
But he was a believer. Finley was convinced that God would save him. For nine weeks he sat in his truck, meticulously marking off the days, and writing in his diary.
In the spring they found his body. He'd starved to death in his truck.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=18
--------
I'd take a middle position of staying with the vehicle, WHILE burning the tires, etc to stay warm and attract attention . It cannot be overlooked that what led to the rescue of mom and kids was a PING from her cell phone.

Monday, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture Manfred Nowak told CNN's Rick Sanchez that the US has an "obligation" to investigate whether Bush administration officials ordered torture, adding that he believes that there is already enough evidence to prosecute former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
